Overview
Designed, developed, and deployed Expatike, a centralized high-performance platform engineered to simplify the relocation process for expats moving to Kenya. I architected a content-first experience that transforms complex migration data into a reliable, searchable resource, ensuring that essential relocation information is accessible through a smooth and intuitive user journey.
Technical Execution
Full-Stack Engineering: Developed a type-safe, performant frontend using Next.js and TypeScript, leveraging Tailwind CSS to build a clean, trust-oriented interface focused on information hierarchy.
Content & Data Management: Architected a robust backend using Directus CMS to handle complex localized data structures, integrated with Supabase for secure user authentication and efficient database management.
Infrastructure & DevOps: Orchestrated the deployment using Docker on a custom VPS, maintaining full environment control and ensuring the scalability required for a high-volume directory.
Feature Implementation: Built and maintained core functionalities including interactive relocation guides, location-based resource directories, and advanced search filters for a seamless discovery experience.
Result
Delivered an authoritative digital touchpoint that serves as a primary resource for the expat community. By owning the full lifecycle from backend architecture in Directus to frontend execution in Next.js I created a system that balances administrative ease with a high-speed user experience, providing the structural flexibility to integrate future real-time relocation services.
