Overview

Engineered the end-to-end transition of The Kenyan Wall Street from a legacy WordPress setup to a high-performance, custom-built platform. I designed, developed, and deployed the entire ecosystem to redefine its digital architecture, ensuring the platform can scale with high-traffic demands while delivering a premium, distraction-free reading experience for thousands of daily investors.

Technical Execution

  • Frontend Engineering: Built a near-instant user interface using Next.js and React.js, leveraging TypeScript and Tailwind CSS to ensure a type-safe, maintainable, and mobile-first foundation.

  • Content Migration & CMS: Architected a custom backend using Directus CMS and PostgreSQL, leading a complex data migration from WordPress to a headless structure that allows for extreme content flexibility.

  • Performance Optimization: Integrated Redis caching and high-speed data delivery pipelines to minimize latency, coupled with advanced SEO strategies to enhance global discoverability.

  • DevOps & Infrastructure: Orchestrated the platform’s deployment on Google Cloud, focusing on automated scaling and infrastructure reliability to support real-time market updates and future AI-driven trading tools.

Result

Successfully delivered a faster, cleaner, and more scalable news destination that powers the region’s leading business and investing content. By owning every stage from the initial Figma designs to the final server configuration, I established a robust digital foundation that merges modern system architecture with the editorial precision required for high-stakes financial reporting.
